Christine Johnson

Christine Johnson

I obtained my Master’s level counseling degree from the University of Illinois in 1995, and I have earned my clinical license to practice in Illinois as an LCPC.

My counseling background includes working with a variety of ages– children using play therapy, adolescents, adults, couples, and seniors. I have experience in supporting individuals and families in a variety of settings, such as drug and alcohol treatment, mental health facilities, and in foster care settings. I am also happy to offer spiritual-based counseling when my clients are seeking a Christian counselor. I also had two of my own private practices over the years–Eagles Wings Counseling and Soaring Eagles Counseling.

I find Cognitive Behavioral Therapy most effective in addressing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors clients are struggling to manage. I also have experience helping clients learn the technique of mindfulness strategies.

While I no longer offer play therapy or work with young people, I have found that some of the techniques still reach my adult clients. For example, sand tray therapy seems to be very beneficial with young adults, couples, and seniors in helping to process thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I am happy to pull from all different areas of my clinical experience to continue to support my adult clients in this outpatient setting today.
