United Healthcare is one of the largest insurance carriers in the country, and Keri Powell Therapy is in-network. If you have UHC through your employer, through the marketplace, or through a Medicare Advantage plan, your mental health benefits are usable here.
We have offices in Champaign, downtown Champaign, Mahomet, Monticello, Bloomington, and Oak Brook. We also see clients throughout Illinois via telehealth.
Using Your United Healthcare Benefits for Therapy
UHC covers outpatient mental health services under most of its plans. One thing worth knowing upfront: UHC often routes behavioral health benefits through Optum, its behavioral health subsidiary. In practice, this doesn’t change anything for you as a patient. We accept both, and we’ll verify which applies to your plan when you reach out.
A few things that apply to most UHC plans:
- As an in-network provider, we bill UHC directly at the negotiated rate. You pay your copay or coinsurance, not the full session cost.
- Most UHC plans don’t require a referral for outpatient mental health services. You can contact us directly.
- If you haven’t met your deductible yet, you may pay the full session rate until it’s met. We’ll be clear about your expected costs before your first appointment.
- Telehealth is covered under most UHC plans. Virtual and in-person sessions are billed the same way.
When you reach out, we’ll verify your UHC benefits and confirm your coverage before scheduling. No assumptions, no surprise bills.
What to Expect When You Reach Out
Getting started is straightforward. You reach out, we verify your UHC coverage, and we match you with a therapist based on what you’re working through and your scheduling preferences.
We have therapists who work with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, substance use, and more. Keri Powell Therapy has been part of Central Illinois for over 15 years. We take the matching process seriously because the right fit is what makes therapy actually work.
Your first session is about getting to know each other. No pressure, and no long-term commitment required before you’ve had a chance to see how it feels.
