Diane

I am Dr. Alexander, a Behavioral Psychologist (PsyD) and transgender woman. I also have Master’s degrees in Psychology and Applied Behavior Analysis and have completed extensive coursework in Sports/Performance Psychology. I have over 30 years of experience in the mental health field and have worked extensively with many diverse populations. I am an ally of and advocate for members of the LGBTQ+ community, and I am passionate about providing support for the life challenges individuals may face. I am also comfortable assisting individuals facing challenges presented by adjustment issues, depression, grief, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma (PTSD), personality disorders, eating disorders, dissociative disorders, body dysmorphia and gender dysphoria, as well as addressing lifelong challenges presented by conditions such as intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and other long-standing mental health concerns.

I primarily use research-based learning theories to assist individuals to modify their behaviors, along with cognitive behavior therapy to address most challenges. However, I am also adept in the use of several therapeutic tools and strategies including: Solution Focused Therapy, Person-Centered therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Rational Emotive Therapy. I am also willing to utilize a faith-based Christian counseling approach to therapy when requested.

I strive to establish a unique therapeutic relationship with each of my clients to assist and support them in achieving their goals; by developing the insight, knowledge, and skills needed to manage their personal challenges.
