The recipe for successfully discovering your freedom from the pain of disappointment, trauma, and fear in your life and relationships is a unique combination of privacy, safety, nurturing, education, and therapy. Success often requires the right guide to blend these ingredients just how you need them to create a life that gives you joy.
Joy is the name I was given at birth, but it’s taken me many years (just the right amount) to discover that my name is also my calling, a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have been involved in therapy with individuals and families faced with circumstances brought on by emotional, mental, and physical trauma for over a decade. I have a passion for learning, so I strive to provide psychoeducation as a foundation for growth. I have many years of experience in Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy in my work with the Neuro-diverse population and training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Structural Family Systems Therapy. I am Certified in the treatment of Personality Disorders. I am also certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. While I see the therapeutic relationship as one to be valued and nurtured, I believe my place in your life is designed to set you free.
I opened my biography by comparing counseling to cooking because everyone needs to eat to live a healthy life. Solid mental health is just as important (I happen to think even more) to life as eating. We all have the ingredients built into us to lead satisfying lives. Unfortunately, those ingredients can become toxic when not handled properly. I am seasoned in the exploration and treatment of these human ingredients. I will act as a guide to you, your spouse, or your loved ones through the process of identifying your unique and personal components. Together, we will explore how they interact and blend them in a manner that affects your mental wellness in a lasting way.
I look forward to working with you, whether you are an individual, couple, or family. Providing you with a safe place to find and be yourself is my first goal, as I help you to define, refine or create the life you deserve to live to be healthy and free.
