Karen Jones

Karen

I have 15+ years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois and a Board Certified Professional Counselor by the American Psychological Association. I enjoy working with people of all ages. I am holistic in my approach and use twelve step principles, mindfulness training, and expressive therapies to address issues surrounding relationships, anxiety, grief, depression, trauma, and personality disorders. I provide individual therapy, and I also specialize in family and couples counseling.

I utilize twelve step principles to address painful thoughts and beliefs surrounding shame, isolation, and loneliness. I teach mindfulness skills to provide people with effective tools to manage painful emotions that have previously resulted in damaging sabotaging behaviors. I have specialized training in breath work which is a unique and cutting-edge approach in mental health treatment. I have a teaching background in the fine arts and am passionate about using expressive therapies (music, art, and movement) to help those who struggle with traditional talk therapy.

My goal is to help people replace pain surrounding  power struggles, accusations and blame with understanding, acceptance, and accountability. Through processing, destructive behaviors surrounding anger, frustration, and hopelessness are replaced with assertive respectful communication skills.  Individuals, couples, and family members are empowered to make healthy choices that support healing and positive change.

Karen practices at our Champaign location.
