I have been working as a licensed social worker in the state of Illinois for 12 years. I feel privileged to be able to utilize my education (B.A. Human Development and Family Studies and Master’s of Social Work from the University of Illinois), experience, and skill to walk along side individuals and families to help navigate life’s challenges while highlighting and bringing to the forefront their strengths, passions, and life goals.
Areas I like to address include, past trauma and abuse, depression, anxiety, relationships, eating disorders, personality disorders, self-esteem, bullying, social awareness, and parenting support among other issues. I have extensive training in therapeutic approaches with children and adolescents including art therapy and play-based approaches, however I enjoy working with all age groups.
My goal is to prioritize relationship as I believe this is the most important factor in facilitating change. I provide a warm, inviting space where individuals feel accepted, listened to, and safe. I use a cognitive-behavioral approach in addition to guided imagery, psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and dialectical behavioral therapy. I have extensive experience in Trauma-Focused CBT and enjoy incorporating an individual’s spirituality into sessions when requested.
I believe that everyone possesses an abundance of gifts and strengths. Sometimes past trauma, difficult situations, transition, unhealthy relationships and other circumstances can cloud our ability to identify these gifts within ourselves. Individualizing your treatment based your specific needs and goals allows us to achieve the clarity and stability needed for your strengths and passions to emerge and flourish, ultimately moving you towards your life goals.
