Sandy Shannon

Sandy Shannon

I am a Licensed Social Worker with a Master’s degree in Social Work. I have over twenty years of experience working in the mental health field with adolescents and families in crisis.

My core belief is that everyone is on a journey; everyone has inherent value; no one has a perfect life, and no one can do this life without support. My goal is to help you on your journey towards a happier, healthier you and navigate the challenges this world brings to your table. I strive to provide person-centered holistic counseling with an emphasis on mind, body and spirit. I borrow techniques from mindfulness and acceptance based therapy, mindful cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy, Gottman approaches, and trauma-informed care practices. I am fascinated about how our brains are affected by our experiences and I work towards utilizing this knowledge to help rebuild neural pathways towards healing. I am comfortable treating depression, anxiety, symptoms of trauma, relationship conflicts, parenting challenges, grief and loss and stress in the workplace.

Our minds, bodies, and spirits are affected by our experiences, but meaning in life is made by the ways in which we survive our suffering. You’re already showing signs of willpower by seeking therapy. You are willing to take the risk to feel some discomfort as you find your healing path. I want to help you view your experiences with non-judgement and compassion, to help you find your path to inner freedom. You are valued, you are important.
