With over 15 years of experience in the field of social work, Trisha is a compassionate and experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensed in Illinois and Missouri. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration from Western Illinois University (2007) and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois (2009). Over the years, Trisha has had the opportunity to work with individuals of all ages in a wide variety of settings, providing therapeutic services that are tailored to each client’s unique needs.
In clinical practice, Trisha employs a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT), and solution-focused approaches. She strongly believes that building a strong therapeutic relationship begins with meeting clients where they are, fostering trust, and encouraging clients to challenge themselves while providing the support necessary to achieve their personal goals.
In addition to direct therapy, Trisha serves as a clinical supervisor, guiding and mentoring staff members while also assisting LSW and LCSW candidates in preparing for their licensing exams. Trisha is deeply committed to the growth and development of future social workers, helping them refine their clinical skills and prepare for successful careers in the field.
A unique aspect of Trisha’s practice is the incorporation of Trig, a German Shepherd/Lab mixed breed therapy dog who became a member of her family in 2022. Trisha and Trig have been providing Animal Assisted Therapy with Keri Powell Therapy since 2023. Outside of the office, Trisha and Trig are affiliated with PawPrint Ministries (Decatur), providing comfort and support within our surrounding communities. Trig is a certified therapy dog through the Alliance for Therapy Dogs and has earned his Canine Good Citizen Award. He plays a special role in the therapy process, providing comfort, companionship, and emotional support for clients, especially in situations where the calming presence of a dog can make a significant difference.
Trisha has a strong passion for working with members of the military and first responders. She finds great fulfillment in supporting these individuals, recognizing the unique challenges they face. Trisha is committed to providing tailored therapeutic care that addresses the specific needs of these dedicated professionals, helping them navigate the stresses and demands of their high-pressure roles.
Whether working individually with clients, families, couples, or guiding a team of clinicians, Trisha is dedicated to providing a supportive, empathetic, and empowering environment where clients can explore and achieve their goals. She strives to provide the tools and guidance necessary to help individuals overcome obstacles, enhance their well-being, and live more fulfilling lives. With the added benefit of Trig’s therapeutic presence, clients are often able to access a unique form of comfort and healing.
